OpenArt 2026

Take the bus to OpenArt, Örebro’s international exhibition of contemporary art in public spaces, one of the leading meeting places for art in everyday life in the Nordic region. During the summer, the city’s streets, squares, parks and unexpected places are filled with artworks from artists from all over the world, all free to visit with no entrance fee.

With its unique mix of high artistic quality and open access, OpenArt turns the city into a living art scene full of surprises, new perspectives and strong experiences. Here, residents and visitors meet through conversation, curiosity and discovery, in Örebro and this year also in several places across the county.

Askersund

Anders Tolergård is an artist and director whose work moves between film, spatial art and poetic storytelling. In his work, memory, dreams and reality meet, often starting from places that gain new meaning through art.

As part of OpenArt Links, Tolergård’s artwork will be launched at the wastewater treatment plant in Askersund, followed by an opening for the exhibition I Could Be Dreaming at Askersund Art Gallery. Two connected events where outer environments and inner states are brought together.

Kumla

Artist Alexander Creutz will create a new permanent artwork in Kumla City Park. Creutz often works with site-specific art, where materials, movement and space interact, and where public spaces are used in unexpected ways.

The artwork will become a long-term part of the park and invites visitors to experience the place through an artistic approach that brings together nature, people and surroundings.

Lindesberg

Perman K. Bäckström is an artist duo made up of Karin Bäckström and Jon Perman, working in contemporary art and installation. Under the name [krig], they also work with performance and music.

The artwork, Imaginary Spaces – Myscenium, is inspired by the forest’s mycelium – the hidden network that connects trees and lets them communicate. It asks the question: what connects us in the city and in society? In Lindesberg, you can find the artwork at Norrtullstorget.

Tivedstorp - Laxå

Inspired by trail markings on walking and fitness tracks, artist Kristin Ylikiiskilä Broberg has created her own art path in the forest, marked on trees and posts. The path does not exist at first but is formed over time by visitors who follow the marks.

On 14 June, we will walk together along Kristin’s path and open her artwork as part of Laxå Municipality’s contribution to OpenArt. The artist will be there, and we will also visit her OpenArt artwork See You by the Grill.
