About our surcharge fees
If you do not have the correct ticket during a ticket inspection, the ticket inspector may charge a surcharge in accordance with Swedish law (1977:67). The fee depends on your age and the situation.

If you travel with someone else's School Card, the surcharge is based on your age. A misused School Card will not be returned.
Reduced fee with student travel symbol
Have you been charged a surcharge because you could not show a valid student ID with the correct student travel symbol during a ticket inspection? If so, you may be able to have the fee reduced. This applies if you travelled with a Student 20+ ticket and can later show a valid student ID with the correct student travel symbol.
To apply for a reduced fee, you must submit comments about your surcharge. Please include a copy or screenshot of your student ID showing the student travel symbol clearly.
If you do not submit your comments with supporting documents, the fee cannot be reduced. Each case is assessed individually, and submitting documents does not guarantee that the fee will be reduced.
Pay your surcharge
If you receive a surcharge, you must pay it within 10 days. You can use the payment slip you received during the ticket inspection.
If you disagree with the surcharge, you must still pay it within the stated time. If we decide to cancel the fee, the money will be refunded to you.
If we do not receive your payment on time, a reminder fee will be added. If you still do not pay after receiving a reminder, the case will be passed to a debt collection agency.
