A commuter parking facility must meet certain basic requirements in order to function effectively. It should:
- be located close to public transport
- offer all-day parking availability
- not require a specific parking permit
There are commuter parking areas that are municipally owned, as well as those classified as informal parking. Informal parking refers to places where cars are parked without any responsible operator having arranged or maintained the area, yet travellers still switch to public transport from there. We do not manage the commuter parking facilities, and changes to the list may occur.

Missionshuset, Åsbro
At the Missionshuset bus stop, there are two parking areas used for commuter parking. They offer:

- access to the bus stop
The parking areas are not signposted, but can still be used by commuters.

At Degerfors railway station, there are two clear and well-maintained commuter parking areas. They offer:
- paved surface
- marked bays
- good lighting
- A total of 58 parking spaces, including 28 spaces within a fenced area with charging points
The parking areas have safe access to the train station and bus stop. They are of a good standard.

Hallsberg municipality

There is also a safe pedestrian route across the railway to both train and bus services.

Folkasboskolan, Pålsboda
At the Folkasboskolan bus stop, there is a parking area along Skolgatan that is partly used for commuter parking. It is mainly used by school pupils. The parking area offers:

Stationsgatan Vretstorp
At the Stationsgatan stop, there is an organised parking area used for commuter parking. It offers:

- lighting at one end

Storå resecentrum
At Storå resecentrum, there is an organised commuter parking area with:

High Standard
We have developed criteria for what we consider to be a commuter parking facility of high standard. The assessment is based on how the site appeared at the time of inspection, along with survey responses and digital maps.
To be classified as high standard, a parking facility should meet as many of the following criteria as possible. The fewer criteria met, the lower the rating.
- Good lighting that makes the area safe and secure
- Paved surface that provides smooth and stable parking
- Marked bays that make parking easier and optimise space
- Bicycle racks with weather protection to support those switching modes of transport
- Safe walking route to the stop for a secure and smooth transition to train or bus
Together, these factors create a commuter parking facility that is practical, safe and attractive, contributing to a sustainable and efficient transport system in the region.
