The most common way to have your school ticket is on a school card, but some school tickets are on paper. You can scan your school card in the ticket machine, while you need to show a paper ticket to the driver.

Information about school tickets

Travel with city bus in Örebro or Citylinjen

On our city buses in Örebro, you can scan your school card either with the driver or at the ticket reader inside the bus. If you are travelling with Citylinjen, you can board through any door and scan your school card there.

If you want to scan your ticket with the driver, hold your school card against the reader on top of the ticket machine. Hold it there until you see a message on the ticket reader saying that the ticket is approved. You will also hear a beep when the ticket is approved. You do not need to inform the driver or press anything before scanning your ticket.

If you want to scan your already purchased ticket at the ticket reader inside the bus, you need to hold your travel card against the reader on the lower part of the ticket reader. You do not need to press anything before scanning the ticket. Keep the card held against the reader until you see a happy face on the screen. This means the scan is approved.

If you are travelling with a temporary School card senior or a prao ticket, you need to show the ticket to the driver. These two types of tickets are on paper, and you must present the ticket each time you board.

Travel with city bus in Karlskoga and Lindesberg

You scan your ticket with the driver by holding your card against the reader located on top of the ticket machine. Hold it there until you see a message on the reader confirming that the ticket is approved. You will also hear a beep when the ticket is approved. You do not need to inform the driver or press anything before scanning your ticket.

Travel with regional and express buses

Travel by train

If you have a School card senior, you need to scan it at one of the yellow ticket machines on the platform. Hold your travel card against the card reader beneath the display. Keep it there until you see a confirmation on the screen. This must be done before boarding the train.

Once on board, you will need to either have your school card scanned by the on board staff or show your school card along with the receipt. The on board staff will ask you to present your ticket.

If you are traveling with a temporary School card senior, you need to show the ticket to the staff on board.

Travel with Närtrafik

When travelling with Närtrafik, you need to show your school card to the driver who picks you up.

Broken ticket machine

If the ticket machine onboard the bus is broken, try another machine or show your ticket to the driver. If you are traveling with a travel card, please bring the purchase receipt and show it to the driver.

If a ticket machine at the platform is broken, you can use one of the others available at the station.
